History

After being an avid racing fan for most of his life, in 2003 Joe Curioso III decided it was his time to get behind the wheel and turn left at high speeds. From body and chassis work to regular weekly maintenance, Curioso does it all. His reward? Racing Saturday night under the lights!

For four seasons Joe Curioso had a successful career running in the Sportsman (now "Street Stock") division at the Waterford Speedbowl. During 2004 (his official rookie year), Curioso raced his Street Stock 23 times, had 5 top-five finishes and 10 top-ten finishes. Subsequently, Curioso was named Waterford Speedbowl's Street Stock "Rookie of the Year". From there Curioso's success continued. During 2005, with 20 starts, Curioso won 2 races, had 15 top-five finishes and 19 top-ten finishes. In 2005, Joe Curioso III finished 4th in points and was named "Sportsman of the Year" for the division. In 2006, his last season as a Street Stock driver, Curioso started 19 races, had 1 win, 17 top-five finishes and 18 top-ten finishes. He finished 2nd in points for the Street Stock division that year.

In 2007 Joe Curioso III decided it was time to challenge himself with something new; He traded in his green and white racing machine for his current ride: the white, orange and blue Late Model. Since 2007 Curioso has run the #38 car with style. In his first year as a Late Model driver, Curioso ran a limited schedule; He started 7 races, had 2 top-five and 4 top-ten finishes. During the 2008 season (his official rookie year), Curioso started 15 races, had 9 top-five finishes and 12 top-ten finishes. It was also during the 2008 season that Joe Curioso III captured his first win in the Late Model division on August 2, 2008. Curioso finished 6th in points that same season and was named Waterford Speedbowl's Late Model "Rookie of the Year". In 2009 Curioso ran a limited schedule, starting 9 races at the Waterford Speedbowl and 1 for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT). He had 2 top-five finishes and 7 top-ten finishes.

During the 2010 season Curioso ran a part-time schedule; He started 10 races and had 10 top-ten finishes. Curioso also had the opportunity to participate in two American-Canadian Tour races at his home track, the Waterford Speedbowl. A major triumph in Joe Curioso III's racing career was his ability to participate in an ACT sponsored "Test and Tune" session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in August 2010. Curioso was one of 80 drivers from New England and Canada who were invited to bring their cars to the track for this exclusive practice session.

The 2011 season proved to be Joe Curioso III's best season in the Late Model to date. Joe started 20 races at the Waterford Speedbowl. He had 8 top-five finishes and 19 top-ten finishes. Joe finished the 2011 season 4th in points for the Late Model division, and was awarded "Most Improved Driver" for his performance.

Joe Curioso III plans on racing his #38 Late Model in select events for the NASCAR Whelan All-American Series and American-Canadian Tour during the 2012 season
